Moderation tools
Bans, warnings, timeouts, kicks, tempbans, temporary roles, and the mod log.
The pattern
Almost every tool works the same way: DM the member first, apply the action, post a mod-log embed. Courteous, in a bouncer sort of way.
- Role hierarchy is respected.
- Members with an immune role are skipped by every manual tool and every filter.
Bans
- The member gets a DM with the moderator and reason before the ban lands.
- When this server's web dashboard is available, that DM includes the appeals link.
- Staff may delete recent messages as part of the ban.
Warnings
A warning is a DM with the reason, on the record. That part is not optional.
- One warning ages off after 3 months of clean behavior. A new warning resets that clock.
- Reach the configured auto-ban threshold and the ban is automatic (same DM-first notice, no message cleanup). Filter warnings count toward the threshold too.
Timeouts, kicks, and tempbans
- Timeout: Discord's native mute, 5 minutes to 28 days. DM first.
- Kick: DM first, then out the door.
- Tempban: the DM includes a single-use return invite up front, then a timed ban (1 hour to 7 days). Closed DMs do not prevent the action.
